What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy ?

  • Hyperbaric Therapy is a safe method of delivering more oxygen to the body at the cellular level.
  • Hyperbaric Therapy provides the optimal environment for the body to carry out vital cell processes, thereby increasing the capacity for the body to heal itself.
  • The hyperbaric chamber utilizes filtered pressurized ambient air to dissolve oxygen directly into the plasma, cerebral and spinal fluids, thereby flooding tissues and vital organs with oxygen.
  • Hyperbaric Therapy promotes detoxification & healing at the cellular level, thus promoting healthy tissues, organ systems & ultimately a healthier body overall.

Is it Safe?

  • YES! The hyperbaric chamber uses filtered ambient air, so there is no risk of oxygen toxicity to the body even with regular use.
  • The chamber can be depressurized and opened from the inside.
  • Once inside the chamber, both visual and verbal communication are possible with the anyone outside chamber.
  • This therapy is non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical and there are no dangerous side effects .

How does it work?

The mild hyperbaric chamber is filled with compressed ambient air at approximately 20 PSI (pounds per square inch or 1.3 ATA ). This is the equivalent of 11 feet below sea level. Also, an oxygen concentrator can be connected to a face mask inside the chamber to deliver 90-95% oxygen during your session.

This increased hyperbaric pressure allows the blood plasma and other body fluids to absorb more oxygen than it would under normal atmospheric conditions. At mild hyperbaric pressures (1.3 ATA), the body can absorb up to 1,200% more oxygen than it would at sea level.

This resulting increase of oxygen to tissues allows for faster healing, as well as, reducing any swelling or inflammation. Oxygen is then utilized by the body for vital cell functions and healthier cells make healthier tissues and organs.

Also, hyperbaric pressures of 1.3 ATA, have demonstrated a 300% increased production of stem cells. The human body is capable of healing itself when it has what it needs. There is NOTHING the human body needs more than OXYGEN.

How long does a hyperbaric session last?

Most hyperbaric research studies recommend a duration of 60-90 minutes for each session. Sessions lasting 60-90 minute have the largest index of reported benefits. Shorter durations sessions, perhaps taking 30-40 minutes, are also giving very positive results and feedback.

Are there any reasons someone should not go in a chamber?

  • Yes. For example: If you have ear canal problems or an ear infection, or if you are experiencing flu or cold symptoms.
  • People experiencing flu-like symptoms or acute colds should wait until they recover before undergoing HBOT.
  • People with severe COPD or emphysema should not use the chamber until cleared by their medical doctor.

How frequently should i schedule my sessions?

We will make a recommendation for you based on your needs after an initial evaluation.

Are there any side affects?

No dangerous side effects have been reported with mild hyperbaric therapy. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when preparing for your first session in a chamber:

  • Some people experience a mild discomfort to the ears when pressurizing the chamber, not unlike during the ascending part of an airplane ride.
  • Some people following their first few sessions experience slight fatigue as the body sweeps itself clear of toxic debris.

It is best that you wear comfortable, loose clothing.

What can i expect to happen during my session?

Before your HBOT session, the doctor will discuss your medical history and perform a physical examination to ensure HBOT is suitable for you. They will also need to know about any medications and supplements you are taking. The chamber may seem smaller when deflated, however within one minute, the chamber will inflate completely, allowing enough room for an adult to sit upright or lie down fully extended. Some people experience mild ear discomfort during pressurization, similar to what you might feel during airplane ascent. If you experience this discomfort, let our staff know, and they can help you clear your ears. Also please do not enter the chamber wearing perfume or cologne, as have individuals who are sensitive to chemicals that might enter the chamber after you.

What can i do during my Hyperbaric Session?

  • Listen to music on a portable device.o Talk on your cell phone.
  • Use your laptop computer
  • Play handheld games.
  • Read books or magazines.
  • Take a nap.
